The “Open Studio” Exhibit 2017

April 10, 2017

The exhibit “Open Studio 2017” represents drawings conceived during the Drawing Club sessions in my studio. Some of the sketches inspired my series of drawn paintings. The Drawn Paintings are drawing conceived on raw canvases…my preferred surface to draw on. It demands special technique and mastery of medium application on such difficult surface as raw canvas. Drawing on canvas is a kind of intellectual meditation and cognitive coordination that transform artist’s imagination into kinetic actions. It is an expensive practice of drawing…it demands many crayons and many sharpeners before the artwork is finished. When the artwork is finished you need to preserve the drawing on canvas permanently, not temporarily, and this demands yet another knowledge, which could be only obtained by elaborated research and a lot of practice. I have my particular way of preserving my drawings on canvas. They can last forever…in any case certainly longer than I physically can.
